The Artist:

Clarke Munford is a North Carolina-based visual artist with a primary focus in oil painting. A graduate of The George Washington University, Clarke discovered his passion for live figure drawing under the guidance of John “Frank” Wright. In 2011 The North Carolina Museum of Art selected Clarke’s self-portrait for display as part of the “Self, Observed” collection in conjunction with the celebrated “Rembrandt in America” exhibition.

While he occasionally took on commissioned portrait drawings over the ensuing years, the next chapter of Clarke’s artistic journey began in 2016 when he assumed a management position at the Musée Gorsline in the Burgundy region of France. Upon his return to North Carolina in 2017 Clarke transitioned into oil painting, taking inspiration from both his travels abroad as well as regional scenery.
